Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are being installed at an ever-increasing pace in an effort to mitigate the infamous duck curve caused by the ramping of renewable energy resources. The duck curve pattern is created by the midday dip (belly) in the net load curve, followed by a steep rise in the evenings when solar generation declines.

The presentation examines current risks, draws insights from past incidents, and explores best practices and fire suppression systems. Embracing future trends, it advocates for collaboration, compliance with standards, and continuous monitoring to achieve the vision of zero lithium-ion battery fire incidents.
