The Ocean’s Menagerie by Dr. Drew Harvell

April 23 @ 1:00 am - 2:15 am

To celebrate Earth Day, Drew is releasing The Ocean’s Menagerie. Dive into a world where hundred-year-old giant clams, expansive coral kingdoms shaped like cities, and jellyfish that glow in the dark reign supreme. Ocean invertebrates, some of the oldest and most diverse organisms on Earth, seem to defy the conventional rules of land-based biology.
Join us for an invigorating talk with Drew Harvell as she discusses her newly released book, The Ocean’s Menagerie. Discover the mysterious and fascinating life forms that inhabit our oceans and learn how they contribute to our understanding of the natural world.
“A love letter to the ocean, and it’s weird and wonderful creatures, from an eminent explorer and marine biologist. Each page is full of wonder and surprise, and in every tale of a shape-shifting octopus or luminous jellyfish, we are reminded why the ocean is worth conserving.”
– Steve Brusatte, author of The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs
The talk is sponsored by the Friends of Hopkins. It is free and open to the public. Registration is only required if attending online instead of in person.
