Quick Bytes: Imposter Syndrome
February 13 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Occasionally or regularly feeling like an imposter in your studies is very common: an estimated 70% of people experience such feelings at some point in their career. A campus survey conducted by Margot showed that many students on campus fear not having what it takes to successfully complete their degree program. They feel like a fake, are afraid of disappointing advisors and of being found lacking in talent or preparation. In many cases, these feelings have a strong and negative effect on their wellbeing. Margot will share the findings as well as personal experiences with the imposter phenomenon (IP). Together, common reasons for IP and ways to approach and eventually overcome IP will be discussed.
