May 12 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Lecturers and Academic Teaching Staff (LATS) Event Series
How to Enhance your Teaching-Related Well-Being: An exploration with your peers
At the heart of being a teacher are the daily interactions with students, colleagues and broader academic community. In this interactive workshop, you’ll be guided through the discussion of well-being in academia. In the company of other LATS, you’ll explore the connection between the wellbeing of teachers and students and have the opportunity to reflect on ways to enhance your own wellbeing in your teaching practice.
About the facilitator: Tiina Pylkkoenen is a pedagogical specialist from Aalto University in Finland, with a background in university pedagogy and academic guidance. Over the past two decades, she has worked at Finnish universities, focusing on the development of teaching and learning environments. In recent years, her work has increasingly centered on fostering community and supporting teacher well-being within higher education institutions. This spring, Tiina is visiting the Stanford Center for Teaching and Learning.
Location: Gibbons Grove (a shaded outdoor space across the street from CTL). If the weather is bad, the alternative location is 408 Panama Mall, Room 116.
Food will be served 11:30 p.m.-12:00 p.m. inside CTL (408 Panama Mall). Then, we’ll walk together to Gibbons Grove at 11:55 a.m. Free lunch available if you RSVP by May 8.
Because the event will be outdoors and discussion-based, it is not offered remotely.
