FIRST FRIDAY | The Longevity of Performance: Performance Art and Conservation

February 7 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The February First Friday features a talk by guest speaker Dr. Jules Pelta Feldman.
Though increasingly present in art museums, performance art presents a formidable challenge to traditional models of artwork stewardship, which focus on arresting change in physical objects. Yet while they seem fragile in comparison to bronze and marble, performances may actually endure for thousands of years. Presenting diverse case studies from inside and outside the field of contemporary art, this talk will approach performance as a long-lived and durable art medium capable of radically reconceptualizing the practice of art conservation.
Food Provided.
