Beyond Compliance: Understanding Dyslexia Screening and Best Practices with Stanford’s Rapid Online Assessment of Reading (ROAR) Team

February 12 @ 11:30 pm - February 13 @ 12:30 am

In response to recent reading screener legislation in California and across the country, we invite educators and school and district leaders to join the leadership team of the Rapid Online Assessment of Reading (ROAR), Stanford Graduate School of Education Associate Professor Jason Yeatman and Director of Research & Partnerships Carrie Townley-Flores in a two-part live online series exploring research-based assessment, intervention, and the future of dyslexia research over the next decade.

Focusing on dyslexia screening and the importance of going beyond compliance to support struggling readers in K-12, the sessions will emphasize how ROAR, as a new evidence-based screening tool, can be the foundation of an effective multi-tiered system of support.

Session 1 (Feb 12, 2025, 3:30-4:30 PM PT): Discuss the vision that motivated the screener policy and bring questions about how to effectively screen and support students with dyslexia.

Session 2 (Feb 26, 2025, 3:30-4:30 PM PT): Discuss screening implementation realities, practices and what it means to be “beyond compliance” with the ROAR leadership team.
